Candle Dust Cover Basics

While candle dust covers are typically round, other shapes are possible but may require custom dies*. At Norman’s Printery, we offer circular covers in sizes from 2” diameter up to 4”, available in 1/8” increments (Example: 2.125”, 2.25”, 2.375” etc.). We offer them with or without a pull tab with a ¼” centered wick hole or no wick hole if you prefer. Multiple round wick holes or larger wick holes are available at additional cost. Custom dies for unusual shapes or sizes other than our house standard sizes are available at additional cost and typically run $250 but can be used repeatedly so that is a one-time cost. 

Square covers with rounded corners, 1/4'” wick hole, without a pull tab are also available.

Paper Options

The most common and most cost-effective dust cover stock is the Bright White or Warm White 100# cover. We also have a kraft colored paper and black which works well for foil stamping. Synthetic material is a great option for candles with oil sweating issues as it prevents the oil from soaking through the cover. Our 100% cotton paper is a great option for letterpress printed covers as it takes a nice deep impression. We have sample packs of covers with our various stock options available – just forward your mailing address and request one!

Wooden Wick Covers

Wooden wick covers require a rectangular or race-track shaped hole. Because wooden wicks vary so much in size, requiring different wick hole dimensions we do not have house dies for these. Custom dies are required at a typical cost of $250 but can be used repeatedly so that is a one-time cost.
